How long will DownUnders Orthotics last?
Most people will get about a year or more use or 2 -3 pairs of running shoes. They are very durably constructed. However, do not leave them in your car in summer or place them on any ski boot drier. High temperatures are very hard on the material and will ruin them.
What if I don’t know if I pronates?
First, many people wear DownUnders without being pronators or supinators. They like the custom fit of having their entire foot supported properly inside their shoe. Secondly, the wear on the sole of your shoe can indicate if you are an over-pronator. There will be wear on the outside of your heel and on the inside by the big toe. Because you walk a little duck-like, the wear pattern is created diagonally across the bottom of the sole.
Can DownUnders help plantar Fasciitis and/or heel spurs?
Yes. Many people have reported that the DownUnders were able to help them after trying many other products. The custom moldable heel really stabilizes the heel and helps to reposition the arch taking the pressure off the ligament; the heel bubble centers the fat pad underneath the heel bringing greater protection to heel spurs.
Can heel lifts or full length foot lifts be used?
Yes. Check the shoe to make sure there is enough room for the lift and orthotic. The heel lift may lift heel so high that you walkout of the shoe or also be tight over the in-step or on the toes making them swell or sore.
Do DownUnders fit into athletic shoes and into work shoes too?
Yes, remove insole from the shoe or boot, even if it is glued in place and then place the DownUnders into the footwear. Removing the insole is very, very important when placing the DownUnders in the shoe because there must be at least 1 mm of distance or movement between the orthotic and the inside the footwear. If the orthotic cannot slip back and forth inside the shoe slightly, it will cause blisters and other arch problems for the wearer.
Can DownUnders orthotics be modified?
Yes, it can be heated and vacuum molded. Pads or foam pieces can be added to address other medical problems. The DownUnders does not require modification to function properly underneath your feet. They are designed to custom-mold to your feet!
Does the DownUnders come in different widths?
No, DownUnders come in full sizes, all in the most workable width for each size, which fits most people foot width, even men 4E.
What is the adaptive dynamic design?
You will notice every time DownUnders are placed in a new or different shoe they will, with a little time, become custom fitted, adapting to that shoe and your foot in that shoe. DownUnders through its mechanical design triggers the dynamic groove adjusting the support to what the foot needs in that shoe. DownUnders Orthotics do not over-support the foot. DownUnders appreciates the technology in the shoes mid and out soles, providing the most custom support available today from an over-the-counter orthotic.
How does the Active Arch work?
With every step the arch area of the orthotic adapts to your individual arch height lifting and holding in its natural, most efficient position while minimizing the effects of heel and ankle misalignments.
Why doesn’t DownUnders feel cushy when I squeeze them with my fingers?
The other “soft and cushy” inserts provide no real support or foot control. DownUnders Orthotic offers much more control and shock absorption, which will feel firm to the fingers. The foot can be pressured up to ten times the body weight (180 lbs x 10=1800 lbs) – sometime more and sometimes less. Your finger isn’t that strong!
DownUnders feels cushiony under my feet so how can they help my problem?
DownUnders are a unique combination of materials and design. Designed to assist your natural biomechanics, they provide maximum shock absorption in the heel area and increase the support needed throughout the integrated gait from heel to toe off. While DownUnders are actually very firm, their integration to foot providing a custom fit and support is excellent, therefore giving a feel of cushion while actually providing the needed control to properly support the bones, joints, and ligaments of your feet.
Do DownUnders absorb shock?
Yes. DownUnders absorb a huge amount of shock and do it with controls that prevent and limits other foot injuries at the same time. Working in concert with the soft material of the foot (fat pads, soft tissues, and ligaments), DownUnders Orthotics provide a huge amounts of shock absorption.
